ii cloud team

ii is led by Hippie Hacker, based in Colorado. The ii team have been responsible for projects central to a number of open source projects including Kubernetes, Envoy XDS and more broadly within the Linux Foundation / CNCF communities.

The team at ii can engage effectively in complex projects from a strategic level, working directly with CTO / ED leaders, through to engineers and community members.

While working on these projects we’ve also been developing a number of community focused projects internally across cloud native phones, community infrastructure and cooperative development. The team has a broad skill set and with Hippie’s support can take on just about anything.

Projects

Cloud Infrastructure Architecture & Strategic Consultancy, mostly to Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF)

• Early stage involvement in Cloud Native Computing Foundation (part of Linux Foundation) including cncf/demo and cncf/cross-cloud
• Identified the lack of testing and resulting technical debt within Kubernetes and created APISnoop to identify the shape (Certified Kubernetes)
• Gated new endpoints to ensure they had been tested.
• Launched Kubernetes Conformance program to create tests for all endpoints (cncf.io/ck)
• Engaged by Envoy project to undertake a conformance program being led by Google with ii as the contracted architects.
• Founded and funded the creation of https://cloudnative.nz/

In addition to these ii has been involved in several other initiatives including:

• CNCF Cloud Credits Program
• Kubernetes Infra Migration from GCP to multi cloud
• FinOps for ongoing Kubernetes Infrastructure
